Matthias Brzoska (born in 1955), german musicologist. He studied musicology in Marburg and Berlin with Reinhold Brinkmann, Sieghart Döhring and Carl Dahlhaus and French philology with Hermann Hofer. Masterclass with Hans Peter Haller at the eperimental Studio of Südwestfunk and Stockhausen. From 1981 to 1986 he worked as assistant lecturer at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin for musicology; in composition assistant of Dieter Schnebel in experimental music. Masterclass with Nono. In 1986 he took the doctorate at Technische Universität with a dissertation on Franz Schreker. From 1987 to 1990 he worked in Paris on a research project supported by a grant of Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. In 1992 he took his habilitation at the University of Bayreuth with a study about the idea of a Gesamtkunstwerk in french aesthetics. He was appointed professor for musicology at Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen. His main research interests are opera, french music and intertextual relationships between music and other arts and experimental music. He contributed to New Grove Second Edition, Pipers Enzyklopädie des Musiktheaters, Lexikon der Oper, Lexikon der Violine, Lexikon der Renaissance, Lexikon der Kirchenmusik (Laaber), and is member of the Institut für deutsche Musikkultur im östlichen Europa and the Robert Schumann Forschungsstelle Düsseldorf. Practical Projekts in Music Theater; as composer projects in experimental music (performances of Schnebel, Cage, La Monte Young, Nam June Paik and others) Editor of the critical edition of Meyerbeers opera Le Prophète (Ricordi). He is co-editor of a “History of music” and editor of the reprint of the German edition of the Writings of Hector Berlioz for the music-editor Laaber. 2011 he was elected to the Nordrhein-Westfälische Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Künste and to the Ausschuß für musikwissenschaftliche Editionen der Union der deutschen Akademien der Wissenschaften. In 2014 he received the decoration “Officier des Palmes Académiques” of the French Republic. He is representative of the Deutsch-Französische Hochschule (Saarbrücken) for the sole binational (french-german) BA course in “Musikwissenschaft/musique et musicologie” of the universities Folkwang Essen and François Rabelais Tours of Germany. In 2017 and 2018 he was visiting professor at the Shanghai Normal University, in 2019 he gave a “Ron Alexander lecture” at Stanford University, California, and another lecture at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. In 2020 he was visiting lecturer at the Université de Montréal, Canada. In 2022 he accepted a visiting professorship for composition and musicology at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. In 2024 he was visiting professor for experimental music at the Kunst Universität Graz (KUG).

马蒂亚斯·布鲁斯卡（Matthias Brzoska，1955年生）系德国音乐学家。他曾在马尔堡师从莱因霍尔德·布林克曼与齐格哈特·德林学习音乐学，并跟随赫尔曼·霍弗学习罗曼语言文学。曾在西南德意志广播电台（SWF）的实验录音棚参加了汉斯·彼得·哈勒和卡尔海因茨·施托克豪森的大师班。
